Welcome to my brand spankin' almost new author website. I don't have a book to sell, but I've figured out some other things to talk about...so here's the deal. In these pages, you'll find beautiful images, links to favorite websites and some wonderful literary magazines that deserve a shout out even if they didn't publish my short stories and poems. You'll also find comments about things I care about, including my writer friends. There's an invitation to join me at Wishin" Jupiter Ranch for a writing retreat. And it's inevitable -- I admit there are a few bragging pictures of my family, but take heart--at least I don't have pets. See if you can find a red bicycle and read how it fits into the story. My goal with this website, since I felt compelled to build it, is to have fun with social media. I hope you'll find a way to be a part of it. Drop me a note, write me an article for the blog - ok, it's just a virtual blog at the moment, but it really is in my mind- or just put your eyes these pages., and please know I appreciate you.

A Few Samples of My Work
With an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska, my work has appeared in Terrain, The Montreal Review,The Battered Suitcase, SN Review, Thumbnail, 2River, and The Platte Valley Review. My novel, "The Smell of Smoke," was a finalist for the Pen America Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction and received the Nebraska Arts Council’s Distinguished Artist Award. My second novel, Grace Remains, is up for grabs. An award for residency at The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts and an Individual Arts Scholar award from the Nebraska Arts Council round out my accomplishments. I facilitate four to six writing workshops a year and was a longtime board member for The Backwaters Press, which, I am proud to say, was picked up as an imprint of The University of Nebraska Press. I currently serve on the American board of The Abrahamic Reunion, a small, highly respected peace building organization working in the Holy Land. In my spare time I like to fix up old buildings and houses, hang out with lovely neighbors, family and friends, and volunteer for the Abrahamic Reunion.
