The ranch house at Wishin' Jupiter started out about a hundred years ago as a sturdy foursquare. We're not sure when the east and west additions were built, but we know the last folks who lived there raised four kids, so they might have wanted some extra room. On the west, the addition extends across the whole house, a room that could accommodate a ping pong table and a pool table and a laundry end-to-end. We divided it into two bedrooms, one we call "The Bunkhouse." The east addition had a bedroom, maybe for when the parents didn't want to take the stairs anymore, but now it's a living room with views out into the hills. We like to think the porch addition was just for fun. But it was practical, too, the deep overhang provides shade and cools the house during the hot summers. Changes shown on this east facade include a new roof, rebuilt porch with stone columns and a lovely welcoming entry with a set of stairs. There's also a new chimney and new barn-red window frames. In short, we loved all of what we found and simply dressed it up in preparation for its next hundred years.
